About Trickle Up: Founded in 1979, Trickle Up empowers extremely poor women by providing resources, support and training required to build sustainable livelihoods for a better quality of life. In partnership with local agencies in five countries in Asia, Africa, and the Americas, we provide training and seed capital to launch or expand productive activities, and savings support to build assets. In 2010 we helped start or expand nearly 10,000 livelihood activities, improving the lives of 53,000 people. The Opportunity: Trickle Up seeks an economic development professional to support our Central America Program. Working at our HQ offices in New York, and reporting to the Vice President, Programs the Program Coordinator will become part of a highly collaborative team in a positive working environment. The work will involve a wide array of tasks, including maintaining regular contact with field staff in Guatemala to monitor program development and implementation, monitoring USAID grant implementation, researching other funding opportunities, facilitating cross-regional learning in order to refine program design, undertaking research projects, analyzing data, writing fundraising material and donor reports, budget tracking, and facilitating fund transfers. As a member of the Program Team, you will participate in the organizations ongoing discussions as we develop a new strategic plan, foster inter-regional program learning, and improve our monitoring and evaluation systems.
The Person. We are looking for an individual dedicated to international development, who shares our commitment to the mission and values of the program: providing innovative, sustainable solutions to those living in extreme poverty. The successful candidate will have the following profile:
BA/BS in international development or related field; MA/MS highly preferred.
At least three years of administrative or program-related experience, with demonstrated skills in multi-tasking and prioritization
Work experience in Latin America, preferably Central America
Demonstrated understanding of social and economic development concepts relevant to Central America, particular the issues related to indigenous populations
Experience in poverty alleviation and livelihoods
Strong research, writing, and presentation skills
Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, and an ability to shift between diverse contexts with ease
Strong written and oral communication skills in English
Fluency in written and spoken Spanish
Basic familiarity with the Sustainable Livelihoods Approach/Framework
Experience in grant management and resource mobilization preferred.
Comfort with MS Office programs including at least intermediate-level Excel skills
Data management and analysis
Strong organizational skills
Flexibility and a sense of humor
US work authorization
The following are not required but are preferred:
Experience working with grassroots non-governmental organizations
Experience with statistical analysis
