Purpose:
Under the general guidance of the Chief of Communication, you will be responsible for the conceptualization, planning, execution, monitoring and evaluation of the Office of Research website and e-communication strategy to promote UNICEF research, both that produced in the field and at IRC, across UNICEF and with external partners.
Qualification:
Advanced university degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations; or equivalent professional work experience in the communication area.*
Five years of relevant work experience in communication, print and broadcast media, with an emphasis on interactive digital media.
Fluency in English. Knowledge of another UN working language an asset.
*A first level university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Key Expected Results:
1. Devises, develops, implements and monitors an e-communications and social media strategy that gets research on children’s and womens’ issues into the public domain, and across UNICEF, thereby strengthening the use and visibility of UNICEF’s research, and strengthening political will in support of UNICEF's mission and objectives.
2. Manages, writes, edits, updates and maintains the OoR website. Responsible for the content management of the website for the Office of Research in support of UNICEF’s global aims. Design a range of internal documents and OoR advocacy materials. Copyedit and proofread as required. Continuously update, revise, and expand, written materials.
3. Develops close collaboration with Knowledge Management, and across UNICEF, research centres and external partners whose support is essential to the achievement of advocacy and communication objectives. Adapts and shares research materials from NY, Geneva and the Regional Office to identified internal and external target audiences. Generates and maintains organisational and public interest in research relevant to children and UNICEF’s global objectives.
4. Strategically maximizes all technologies, and advises the Chief of Section, DOC and PFP on the effective use social media/networking to achieve UNICEF’s global objectives.
5. Coordinates the inclusion, hierarchy, placement, and appropriate linkages for all content items on the top levels of the Office of Research website, including the homepage; strategizes on the concept and information design of content, overseeing the production of original graphic and interactive components for optimal presentation on the site. Monitors and reviews the web presence and visibility of the Office of Research website with indicators of global web performance, to optimize web performance and ranking on major search engines in relation to keywords and subjects relevant to the OoR activities.
6. Conceives, writes ,edits and produces general communication materials (PRs etc); leads the editorial and production of the Office of Research newsletter; supports the production and idea generation for multi-media materials.
