Nurse-midwifery tutor

THET is seeking to recruit a volunteer Nursing and Midwifery Tutor to be seconded to a Nursing School in Zambia, a country that currently has a 42% shortfall in the number of registered nurses and midwives.

The successful applicant will be posted to a provincial Ministry of Health Nursing and Midwifery School to teach as a member of a team within the framework of the current established course whilst also providing support to their colleagues to raise training and teaching standards. You will be supported by an in-country office and have the opportunity to share lessons and experiences with other volunteers through regular workshops and get-togethers.

The successful applicant will be registered as a nurse/midwife and educated to degree level or equivalent. They will be an experienced nurse/midwifery tutor, will possess the ability to teach nursing/midwifery to diploma level in English, and be willing and able to reside in Zambia for one year. Ideal candidates will have had two years of experience in a supervisory role within a relevant health training environment.

Post-holders will receive grants to help cover relocation costs and a monthly stipend to cover housing and living expenses whilst in Zambia. If you are a member of a Public Service pension scheme and intend to return to Public Service for at least 6 months after volunteering you may be eligible for an additional pension benefit for the period that you are a volunteer. Please note this is an unaccompanied post.
