17-052: Gender-Based Violence Advisor

The primary function of the GBV Advisor is to provide technical guidance for the scale-up of GBV prevention and response activities in multiple sites in Eastern DRC. Emphasis may be placed on different aspects of comprehensive GBV prevention and response programming, including SBC, health, psychosocial support and empowerment activities.


Program Planning and Strategy
•Work closely with the GBV Project Management Unit and Country Team to develop detailed strategy and work plans aligned with program goals and objectives
•Provide strategic analysis and recommendations for improved programming, based on evolving needs and familiarity with promising practices in the field
Program Implementation and Capacity Development

•Contribute to the design of interventions and the start-up of activities
•Provide technical support to strengthen and standardize programming across sites, including social behavior change interventions and response services, including psychosocial support and case management
•Organize and lead GBV technical trainings as needed
•Contribute to healthcare trainings to improve clinical response to sexual assault and other forms of GBV
•Provide guidance on information-sharing and data management systems
•Maintain flexibility to take on added responsibility as and when needed
Human Resources Management

•Assist in recruitment and support of qualified program staff as needed
•Promote support strategies for staff, including principles of self-care
•Fill in for program managers as needed during any periods of extended absence, including support and supervision of program teams

•Contribute to the GBV sub-cluster and other GBV coordination mechanisms
•Coordinate with local and international NGOs, government representatives, and other stakeholders
•Advocate for adherence to SOPs and on behalf of program teams as needed
•Ensure visibility of the agency amongst the donor and NGO community
•Contribute to the positive image and overall credibility of the organization, notably through the application of the organization’s Code of Conduct
