Location: Plot 17 Nile Crescent Jinja, Uganda
Start Date: September 2017
Basis of Employment: Full-time; Monday - Friday 9 AM - 5PM with 60-minute break for lunch; Minimum of 40 hours per week is required; May be required to work late as needed
Compensation: Commensurate with experience

Reports to: Country Director
Key Roles: Developing, coordinating, and facilitating empowerment programs and Akola Academy for all womenís groups. Managing all activities, staff, and members at Akola Projectís site in Pajule, Uganda

As a full time staff member, you will join the Akola Project family and become an integral part of our daily operations in Jinja. This position is responsible for developing and coordinating Akola Projectís empowerment and educational programs, chiefly through Akola Academy. Akola Academy is an educational program that incorporates participatory principles in developing empowerment and educational programs that are directly informed by our beneficiariesí expressed needs. Akola Academy utilizes peer mentors to lead and encourage their peers as each member works to build the skills that will enable her to take leadership of her own development. This role is also responsible for managing all operations and programs for Akolaís project in Pajule, Northern Uganda and will require regular road travel to Northern Uganda.


- Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in International Relations, International Development or related field
- Experience working in a cross-cultural development context (ideally within an African nation), including management of people and resources desired
- Non-profit experience preferable
- Professional experience in statistics and Excel data management and manipulation a plus
- Professional experience in developing curriculum, administering training, or working in an educational context desired
