International Projects Manager

GovRisk is looking for an experienced and passionate project manager to lead the management of two international anti-corruption projects, work with senior management to develop new working practices and communicate project outcomes to a range of internal and external stakeholders.

Salary: competitive, depending on experience

Background

GovRisk is a provider of world class expertise in financial crime prevention, anti-corruption, procurement policy, cybercrime and related subjects, spread across Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Africa and Asia. We deliver donor-funded projects, work directly with governments and run commercial industry forums (such as our Caribbean and Americas Gaming Regulation Forum). This position will work across two single-country, donor-funded anti-corruption projects (which are subject to contract and will be disclosed to candidates prior to interview).

Key Responsibilities

Project Management (for each project)

Develop the Project Guide (the central planning document for all stakeholders) in collaboration with project steering committee.
Update Project Guide and budget periodically in accordance with project needs.
Ensure project activities are delivered in line with Project Guide, budget and indicators.
Manage any road blocks and find solutions to achieve the project on time and on budget.
Promote project outcomes to stakeholders to ensure continued buy-in at senior level.
Ensure project team work in accordance with GovRisk policies and procedures and donor requirements.
Design, plan and attend in-country visits to deliver the project.

Project Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation

Ensure that all project staff are implementing GovRisk monitoring and evaluation standards
Work proactively to improve the monitoring and evaluation standards where appropriate
Ensure project reporting documents for internal and external communication are updated, and meet company requirements
Complete periodic reports for donors and internal project analysis
Lead meetings with senior management to update on project progress
Maintain project materials and manage appropriate stakeholder and team access to files

General Company Tasks

Monitor performance of all project staff, and contribute to appraisals
Contribute to the design and implementation of operational and financial procedures to improve project management across the company
Feed back to GovRisk directors on general improvements and input to company functionality assessment.
Report lessons learned from project to the wider company

About You

A natural, diplomatic communicator, you thrive in a small, collaborative team setting and relish the challenge of delivering projects to high ethical and professional standards in a challenging setting. Requirements

Three years’ experience managing teams of between 5 and 20 people, involving financial, team and project management.
Experience working for a small or mid-sized development company (annual turnover £3–50m) – or thorough experience of the systems and processes relevant to donor project delivery in a small or mid-sized company.
Practical experience of managing complex government stakeholder relationships, including identifying and overcoming obstacles.
Proven experience managing international government or donor-funded projects at all stages – bidding, procurement, planning, delivery and reporting.
Working knowledge of monitoring, evaluation, finance, operations and reporting (financial and written) in a relevant context, including managing overseas visits.
Experience in problem solving, facilitation, negotiation and communication.
Experience developing and implementing a new strategy in a relevant context.
Experience building and maintaining stakeholder relationships.

A proactive, enthusiastic member of the team, capable of planning and prioritising a team’s workload with little supervision.
An ability to quickly and accurately analyse information.
Excellent written and oral communication skills – communicating appropriately in different settings.
Excellent working knowledge of word, excel and powerpoint.

Desirable Skills or Experience

Experience developing project bids for DfID or other UK-funded projects.
Experience of EuropeAid or international donor procurement processes.
Experience of delivering technical assistance to government institutions.
Working knowledge of prime and subcontractor relationships in a donor setting.
Experience of projects in: anti-corruption, AML/CFT, procurement, cybercrime, audit, justice sector reform, corporate governance. (Wider experience/interest is welcome).
Experience in: law, regulatory policy, investigations, intelligence, audit.
Experience designing effective communications using graphics, charts and graphs.
A flair for interpreting financial information.
A flair for developing operational processes.
